Dental implants are artificial roots that are surgically placed into the jawbone and allowed to fuse to the bone. Upon fusion (osteointegration), the implants will be used to support the replacement of lost teeth. Implants can be used to replace one missing tooth or all teeth.
Replacement can be achieved with either fixed or removable teeth. A healing period of four to six months is considered normal. The choice of restoration depends on many factors. This choice will be discussed in the initial comprehensive evaluation - the first step in the treatment process.
Our doctors have successfully performed dental implants for many years and have pioneered and developed many of the techniques and materials used today. They are at the forefront of lecturing doctors in the U.S. and abroad on the surgery and virtues of dental implants.
Occasionally, special surgical procedures are necessary to improve the implants' success. These procedures include sinus lifts, nerve repositioning, and bone grafting techniques. We are proud to offer these special surgical techniques for our patients and referring doctors.
